Lucid dreams are an interesting thing. I don't manage to encounter them often, but this morning I encountered a bit of one near the tail-end of my sleep. I knew I was within a dream, able to manipulate some elements of the environment I was within, however my attempts at modifying more substantial things were met with failure and me eventually falling back into consciousness.
The most I managed to do was remove a couple things from existence around the basement area, a painting on the wall, some box of something across the room. I kept trying to transform my own body within the dream, to see something I wanted to be more, however I think I wasn't convinced enough that I could do it and failed. Every time I opened my eyes within the dream world, I was left with the two arms I have in the physical world, more or less.
Funnily, during the end of the dream, I noticed my cat Leo come out of my room into the living room area I was in, staring me down from on top of the recliner. When I woke up shortly after, the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was Leo staring at me the exact same way from the end of my bed, heh
They really are a fascinating thing, as they are the best representation of where the mind can go when uninhibited by physicial boundaries, far more than anything currently possible through things like virtual reality. I greatly look forward to seeing the tech related to VR improve to the point that it's easier to become immersed in one of those dynamic worlds, however in the mean-time I should investigate lucid dreams more and try to see if I can find myself more within them.
